GALA
The big date is Tuesday, October 21, 2008, for the 34th Anniversary Gala, the John F. Mulvihill, Jr. Memorial Awards Dinner, at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ.
This year we will be entertained by Who's Johnny, a group of five young men from Hopatcong New Jersey. They are a band and an a cappella singing group doing music from the forties to today, from contemporary music to jazz. Who's Johnny has appeared at Radio City Music Hall, The Nassau Coliseum, The Garden State Arts Center, Continental Airlines Arena, and various Atlantic City casinos. They have also done some touring with the highly respected vocal quartet The Manhattan Transfer. This promises to be a wonderful evening of entertainment.
Each year we honor some special people who have made a difference in the lives of visually impaired people. We will be honoring:
Jimmy Cryan, Owner of Cryan's Beef and Ale House; Bill Calabrese, former Village President of South Orange; and the National Council of Jewish Women.
The Crystal Plaza in Livingston always provides us with a superb dining experience.
The EIES Gala is always an enjoyable evening. Watch your mail for your invitation.
